About the Organization

Greyhound Lifesavers Inc.consists of greyhound owners and volunteers from Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. We are dedicated to finding homes for retired racing greyhounds. We have extensive experience in caring for greyhounds and we love matching people and greyhounds. We work with greyhound farms and adoption representatives at several Florida racing tracks to place dogs in desperate need of a loving home.

The group has over 100 active members and is governed by a board consisting of three members elected by the general membership.  We have adopted organizational Bylaws and have been granted non-profit status with the U.S. Government and the state of South Carolina.

Greyhound Lifesavers is supported by many individuals and organizations.  Please visit our sponsors page to learn more about our supporters.

They quickly fell in love with the breed and after several fosters they adopted Alvia. In 2003 they moved to Columbia, SC. and joined Greyhound Lifesavers. Shortly after joining the group Thumb crossed the rainbow bridge. They soon began fostering for the group and came upon Willie, and it was love at first sight! Soon after that they failed fostering 101 again with Lucky Lil Lois, who became Peaches! In 2006 Sheryl and Bryan moved to Auburn, Ga and started the Atlanta area chapter of Greyhound Lifesavers.

Would YOU like to become an area coordinator? We are looking for GL volunteers to coordinate GL events in Aiken SC, and beyond. The rewards are immense...each opportunity for the public to meet and learn about adoptable greyhounds usually results in one or more greyhounds who finds his or her ' forever home.
